New National Procedural Code of Civil and Family Proceedings

26/04/2023

Pérez Correa González

The Federal Congress approved the issuance of the new National Procedural Code of Civil and Family Proceedings, whose purpose is to standardize procedures at a national level.

Congress agreed that the full implementation of the Code shall take 4 years, with it coming to effect nationwide in 2027. However, its impact will be phased, starting at the federal level before being gradually rolled out in each of the states.

The Code comprises 1191 articles organized into 10 sections (or "Libros"). Its fundamental tenets are the principles of orality and the provision of impartial, swift, and comprehensive access to justice.
